Incredibly soothing pressed serum for sensitive, irritated skin / 1 fl oz
de Mamiel Skin Recovery Concentrate is described as a “pressed serum,” which is the first indicator that this beautiful product is unlike anything else.
Annee de Mamiel first started making the Skin Recovery Concentrate more than 10 years ago in her clinic, first in the form of a beautiful blue oil that she described as “eczema oil” — a salve she frequently blended for those suffering with skin irritation, dryness, and eczema. Over time, due to its soothing properties and beautiful blue color, so many people asked for bottles to take home that she made it into a more user-friendly, innovative balm-to-oil formula for dry, irritated, and inflamed skin.
Skin Recovery Concentrate has a beautiful blue color, reminiscent of an old favorite many of you may immediately think of, but in a form that melts into a lighter, more serum-like texture. At its heart is a collection of five azulene-rich essential oils — blue cypress, yarrow, blue tansy, German chamomile, and Cape chamomile — combined with white clay. Each one of these oils offers a cooling, anti-inflammatory action, but with additional individual benefits; it’s the combination that makes this balm so effective, with significant soothing and healing properties amplified by the other oils, butters, and extracts (including arnica and malachite) in the mix.
That blend of blue oils also provides a great example of the lengths to which Annee goes to guarantee consistency in her ingredients. Cape chamomile is a particularly powerful soother with great potential for sensitized skin, but it’s rarely used in skincare due to its cost and associated sourcing difficulties (it’s grown only in South Africa). Annee felt it vital for this product due to its effect on stress and anxiety, so she spent about two years establishing her own field for this crop with a farmer in South Africa.
Designed to address a broad spectrum of irritated skin conditions, Skin Recovery Concentrate can be used in a variety of ways. You can blend a dab between your fingers so that it turns into an oil, applying that all over as a moisturizer if you have dry skin (perfect for parched skin due to central heating or a/c; also great as an in-flight treatment). Alternatively, you can blend it with your favorite oil or apply it to specific areas of dryness and sensitivity; it’s an Ayla team favorite for maskne-related irritation and feels gorgeously cooling upon application.
As skincare guru Caroline Hirons has said, “it’s properly amazing.” If you’d like to try a sample first, you can request one in our Custom Sample Service.
