As creator Annee de Mamiel explained to us, her seasonal face oils were created to address the shifting effects of the climate and the emotional and physical effect of seasonal transitions on the body. Every season, she crafts a blend using the principles of TCM to provide skin with just what it needs for the season: in the case of the Summer Oil, addressing the extremes of skin that can be both oilier and dehydrated (especially after sun exposure) as well as settling and calming the spirit during this joyful, heady season.

This glow-boosting blend of potent plant oils first helps heal and protect skin’s barrier to ensure a comfortable ride through the season when we spend so much time outdoors. Red raspberry and echium nourish, hold in hydration, and help with redness without feeling heavy; rosewood helps balance oiliness and dehydration; tamanu feels just right on the skin after a day in the sun. And the scent blend, with ylang ylang, rose, and jasmine, is designed specifically to help settle the heart to help with sleep during a season when deep sleep can sometimes be hard to come by.

Annee writes, “The Summer Oil is about nourishing the heart, where there’s anxiety and insomnia and stress levels. This oil is so particularly good at helping just calm all of that.
