How it works: The varied situations that Balance can remedy are based on “Liver Qi stagnation overacting on Spleen,” a pattern generally attributed to stress and worry. Bupleurum and Tree Peony are known to be key relievers of this stagnation, while Poria, Ginger, and Atractylodes are known to stimulate digestive function, aiding with the absorption of the herbs as well. The blend is also designed to help relax the body, in the way one might feel after a slow, deep breath. Anna added some of her favorite tension-calming, mood-lifting herbs (Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, and Lemon Balm) to this ancient Chinese formula to give it even more oomph.
